Compare portfolio layout styles
Choose a structure around the evidence you have. A developer may need project links near the top, while someone with a long work history may want experience to lead. The same person can use different priorities for different roles.

Minimal portfolio: what to emphasize
Use fewer sections and short descriptions; make every project earn its place.
Write a short role statement, select a few relevant projects and give each one a clear title. Avoid removing so much detail that visitors cannot understand your contribution. Simple navigation and readable text matter more than a large number of sections.
Developer portfolio: what to emphasize
Explain your contribution and link to a demo or repository instead of only listing technologies.
For each software project, include its purpose, your responsibilities, the tools used and the evidence someone can inspect. Put setup instructions in the repository and explain whether the demo is a prototype or a maintained application.
Creative portfolio: what to emphasize
Pair each visual with the brief, your decisions and an honest description of the outcome.
Use the portfolio summary to introduce each case study, then link to a fuller presentation of the process. Describe your role in team projects. If a project was self-initiated or a redesign concept, say so clearly instead of suggesting a client commissioned it.
Professional portfolio: what to emphasize
Put the experience most relevant to your next role near the top.
Lead with a relevant summary, then organize experience with consistent job titles and dates. Support skills with examples from your work. Include education and certificates where they help visitors assess your background.
Check a portfolio layout on mobile before publishing
- Your introduction explains who you are without requiring a visitor to scroll through decoration.
- Project titles and descriptions remain readable on a narrow screen.
- Links have descriptive labels and are easy to select.
- Text has enough contrast against its background.
- Contact details are current and the public link opens without your account session.
